“Yes, [the presentation] helped me VERY much. I will start going to a community college, cut down some of my spending, and use loans carefully now. It all provided me with information I would never get at home.”
ABOUT DEBT SLAPPED
Over time, teachers requested CENTS to make a curriculum that implements the concepts introduced in the video, which led to the creation of the Don’t Get Debt Slapped Activity. This Activity was used statewide in Washington as part of Student Loan Awareness Month (SLAM), a collaboration of CENTS and the Washington Attorney General’s Office. The Activity eventually led to the creation of the eight-lesson Don’t Get Debt Slapped Online program.
CENTS has designed the following Don’t Get Debt Slapped educational tools:
- CLASSROOM PRESENTATIONS: A CENTS representative can teach lessons directly to your classroom either virtually (through Zoom, etc..) or in-person. There are a limited amount of in-person slots, but Zoom presentations are more available.
- Eight-lesson Online Curriculum (with 35 short videos)
- 35 short Debt Slapped videos, separated from the online curriculum
- Original Debt Slapped videos (45-minutes, great if you only have one class to cover the topic)
- Debt Slapped two-class video series
- Note: If you’re going to go through the 8-lesson online curriculum, there is no need to watch the videos in advance of starting the curriculum. There are videos integrated into the curriculum.
